The New York City Opera made its triumphant return to Lincoln Center tonight with a sold-out performance of La Bohème. The company, which faced financial struggles and venue changes in recent years, received a standing ovation from an audience eager to see the beloved institution reclaim its place in the city’s cultural landscape.
“This is a new chapter for us,” said Artistic Director Roberto Martinez. “We’re thrilled to bring opera back to its rightful home.”
The company’s comeback season includes classics like Carmen and new works celebrating New York’s diversity.
