New York City, November 13, 2024 – This holiday season, New York City has brought festive cheer to even more neighborhoods with the expansion of its beloved holiday markets to the Bronx and Staten Island. The new markets, located at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx and Staten Island Mall, are providing residents and visitors with access to handcrafted gifts, seasonal foods, and festive decorations, further spreading holiday magic across the city.

“These markets bring the holiday spirit to every corner of the city,” said Fred Dixon, President of NYC Tourism. “By expanding to the Bronx and Staten Island, we’re ensuring that more New Yorkers can experience the joy of these markets while supporting local artisans and small businesses.”

The new locations join the city’s iconic holiday markets in Bryant Park, Union Square, and Columbus Circle, all of which are known for their cozy atmosphere, twinkling lights, and diverse range of vendors. This year’s expanded markets have already drawn praise from shoppers, who highlighted the unique products on offer and the opportunity to support local creators.

“I’m thrilled that we finally have a holiday market in the Bronx,” said Carmen Alvarez, a Van Cortlandt Park resident. “The variety of vendors is amazing, and I’ve found so many thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gifts for my family and friends.”

The Bronx market at Van Cortlandt Park showcases goods from local artisans, including handmade jewelry, candles, and winter accessories, alongside seasonal treats such as hot cocoa, gingerbread cookies, and roasted chestnuts. Meanwhile, the Staten Island Mall market features festive decorations, handcrafted ornaments, and food stalls offering everything from traditional holiday dishes to international fare.

In addition to shopping, visitors can enjoy family-friendly activities like live music, carolers, and craft workshops, making the markets an ideal destination for a day of holiday fun. The markets are also committed to sustainability, with many vendors using eco-friendly materials and packaging.

With their expansion, the holiday markets reflect the city’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all boroughs can share in the season’s joy. As the festive season gets underway, New Yorkers and visitors alike are embracing the chance to celebrate the holidays while supporting small businesses and local artisans. The new markets are already proving to be a hit, adding even more charm to the city’s renowned holiday traditions.
