Video: Florida Woman Robbed Of $200 Lottery Winnings In Orange

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said an 83-year-old woman was apparently pulled from her car and tackled to the ground minutes after collecting her lottery winnings at a convenience store.

Authorities are currently searching for the man suspected of carrying out the attack.

What we know:

According to Orange County deputies, the attack happened just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Buddy’s Food and Lottery off Curry Ford Road. Officials said the woman had collected about $200 in apparent lottery winnings.

Video from a surveillance camera near the entrance of the convenience store showed the woman leaving the store and walking toward her car. Not far away, an alleged suspect wearing what appears to be an orange jacket walks toward the entrance.

As the woman tries to open the door, a man wearing an orange jacket approaches her and appears to try to take something from her, according to the video.

A few seconds later, another person, believed to be an employee, came out of the convenience store with some sort of item. The two appeared to have a brief conversation, but a man in an orange jacket aggressively grabbed the woman from behind, and the other man tried to intervene.

Over the next 15 to 20 seconds, the elderly woman was pulled from the car and fell to the ground. After a scuffle with another man, the suspect fled and was out of frame.

Who is Diego Starlin Tavares Fleury?

What we know:

OCSO identified the suspect as Diego Starlin Tavares Fleury. Officials say he is known to frequent the area. He has warrants for his arrest on charges of robbery, sudden snatching and assault on a person over 65 years of age.

Online court records show the person with the same last name has prior convictions for grand theft, drug charges and theft of a moped.

What they say:

A store employee told a FOX 35 reporter that the suspect was hanging out in front of the building and that they had had problems with him in the past. People who work nearby said the area has been deteriorating for years.
