NEW YORK – The Bronx community gathered on Tuesday to pay tribute to 27-year-old Michael Hernandez, who lost his life in a stabbing incident near the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Friday night. At the emotional vigil, Michael’s mother, Marisol Miranda, expressed her heartbreak, stating, “I was told my kid was beaten, and after being beaten, they followed him to stab him to kill him.” Michael’s uncle, Alvaro Hernandez, shared chilling details of his last moments, relaying that his final words were, “Please don’t let me die.”
Family and friends honored Michael’s memory by releasing balloons and chanting, “Justice for Michael R. Hernandez Jr.” In a passionate plea, Miranda insisted on accountability, stating, “If they were adolescents, I want them to be charged as adults. I want justice for my son.”
