The upcoming film series, titled “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event”, will be under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Sam Mendes. Each of the four films will portray a unique narrative exploring the lives of the legendary band members: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
According to reports from People, the cast is as follows:
- Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney
- Joseph Quinn as George Harrison
- Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr
- Harris Dickinson as John Lennon
Sam Mendes announced the cast and additional details during the recent CinemaCon event in Las Vegas.
Release Timeline
The films are being produced by Sony and are slated for release in April 2028. However, it remains uncertain whether the films will debut simultaneously or be released one at a time throughout the month, as noted by Variety.
Musical Heritage
Audiences can look forward to the inclusion of Beatles’ classic tracks in the series. This biopic will be the first project to secure the rights to their extensive catalog, featuring iconic songs such as “Strawberry Fields,” “Let It Be,” and “I Am the Walrus.”
Crucially, the initiative has received approval from surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, via their production company Apple Corps. Ltd. The rights to most of the Beatles’ music are held by Sony Music Publishing.
