Alec Baldwin Sued For Malicious Prosecution In 'the Last' Set

Actor Alec Baldwin has filed a lawsuit in New Mexico accusing prosecutors and investigators of malicious prosecution, civil rights violations and defamation in connection with the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins on a movie set. Accused. rust.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Santa Fe, names Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey, District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altweese, three Santa Fe County sheriff’s investigators and the county commission as defendants.

“Defendants sought to scapegoat Baldwin at every turn for the acts and omissions of others, regardless of the evidence or the law,” the complaint states, adding that the case was falsely framed for professional and political gain. He claims that he was treated.

Denied claims and new claims

The lawsuit comes months after a New Mexico judge dismissed manslaughter charges against Baldwin in July. Baldwin’s lawyers argued that investigators mishandled evidence, including that ammunition brought to the sheriff’s office was “buried” in unrelated case files.

The state attorney general rejected an appeal of the dismissal, and the criminal case was officially closed in December.

Special Counsel Morrissey responded to the lawsuit, saying Baldwin’s defense team had been hinting at such a move as early as 2023, and told The Associated Press that he “looks forward to his day in court.”
