A body was discovered in the backseat of an abandoned car in East Los Angeles early this morning, sparking a murder investigation by the LAPD. The vehicle, a 2015 Honda Civic, was located in a parking lot near the intersection of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Soto Street. Authorities believe the victim, a man in his late 20s, was shot several days before being left in the car.

Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, though no arrests have been made at this time. “We are working diligently to identify the victim and find out what led to this tragic event,” said LAPD Detective James Norton.

This latest discovery underscores concerns about the rise of car-related crimes in Los Angeles, with abandoned vehicles often becoming sites of violent acts. Local residents are calling for better surveillance and policing in areas where such crimes have been on the rise.
