Broadway Cares Holiday Fundraiser Breaks Records with $8 Million Raised

December 13, 2024

Broadway’s brightest stars joined forces for the annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Holiday Fundraiser, raising a record-breaking $8 million to support healthcare and social service programs for vulnerable populations. The star-studded event brought together performers, fans, and philanthropists for an unforgettable evening of generosity and entertainment.

“This is what the Broadway community is all about—giving back,” said Lin-Manuel Miranda, who served as the event’s host. The fundraiser highlighted the collective spirit of Broadway, with actors, singers, and production crews uniting to make a difference during the holiday season.

The evening featured show-stopping performances from some of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, as well as special numbers created exclusively for the event. Audience members were treated to surprise appearances by Hollywood stars, who lent their support to the cause and helped amplify the event’s impact.

In addition to the live performances, the fundraiser included highly anticipated auctions that offered one-of-a-kind Broadway experiences and memorabilia. Items up for bid included signed playbills, behind-the-scenes set tours, and opportunities to meet cast members of hit productions. The auctions alone raised a significant portion of the evening’s total, as enthusiastic attendees competed for these exclusive prizes.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a nonprofit organization that provides funding to more than 450 social service programs nationwide. These programs deliver essential services, including medical care, housing assistance, and meal programs for individuals living with HIV/AIDS and other critical health conditions.

The fundraiser has grown into a cherished tradition for the Broadway community, demonstrating the power of the performing arts to inspire change and support those in need. “It’s incredible to see how much the community comes together to support this cause,” said one attendee. “The performances were phenomenal, and the energy in the room was so uplifting.”

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS continues to be a driving force in combining entertainment and advocacy, and this year’s record-breaking event underscores the enduring generosity of the Broadway community. As the holiday season unfolds, the funds raised will make a meaningful impact on countless lives, ensuring that the spirit of giving extends far beyond the stage.
