Carlos Santana Hospitalized After Medical Emergency in Texas
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Bay Area music legend Carlos Santana was taken to the hospital on Tuesday following a medical incident caused by dehydration, just hours before a performance at the Majestic Theatre.
Medical Condition Explained
According to Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, the guitarist experienced dehydration, which prompted the decision to postpone the concert. “Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action,” Vrionis stated. He confirmed that the 77-year-old guitarist is currently under medical care in Texas and is doing well.
Background and Previous Incidents
This isn’t the first time Santana has faced health challenges related to dehydration. In 2022, he collapsed onstage during a concert in Michigan, attributing that incident to failing to drink enough water. After that event, Santana reassured fans via social media, saying, “Forgot to eat and drink water so I dehydrated and passed out. Blessings and miracles to you all.”
Tour Impact and Future Performances
Santana is currently on his Oneness Tour 2025, which includes several performances throughout April. His upcoming show is set for Sugar Land, Texas, on Wednesday, although it remains uncertain if this date will be affected by his recent hospitalization.
Legacy of Carlos Santana
Rising to fame during the late 1960s in the San Francisco Bay Area, Santana is celebrated for his unique fusion of Afro-Latin and blues-rock music, paving the way for what would later be categorized as “world music.”
