Harlem was alive with the sounds of jazz today as the neighborhood kicked off its annual Summer Jazz Festival. The week-long event features performances by local and international artists, honoring Harlem’s rich musical history.
“Jazz is the heartbeat of Harlem,” said festival organizer Marcus Powell. Concerts are being held at iconic venues such as the Apollo Theater and outdoor spaces like Marcus Garvey Park, attracting music lovers from across the city.
