New York City endured its hottest day of the year today, with temperatures surpassing 100°F and triggering an excessive heat warning. Cooling centers opened across the city, and residents were urged to limit outdoor activities.

Con Edison reported record electricity usage as air conditioners ran at full blast, leading to scattered outages in parts of Brooklyn and Queens. “Stay cool and check on your neighbors,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan, emphasizing the risks of heat exhaustion.
