kohls said it plans to close 27 “unprofitable” stores across the U.S. by April 2025.
The company is headquartered in the Milwaukee suburb of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. The closure was announced on Thursday.. It accounts for less than 3% of the more than 1,150 stores.
Coles said it has notified all employees of the closure and offered them “a competitive severance package or the opportunity to apply for other open positions at Coles.”
“As we continue to build our long-term growth strategy, we are taking a difficult but necessary step forward to support the health and future of our customers’ and teams’ businesses,” said Tom Kingsbury, CEO of Kohl. It is also important to take appropriate measures.” said in a statement.
Kohl’s is the latest retail chain to announce store closures. Macy’s this week Also announced that 66 stores will be closed in 2025..
