Authorities have apprehended a woman following a devastating two-car accident that resulted in the deaths of a mother and her two children in Brooklyn.

Incident Overview

Miriam Yarimi, 32, has been charged with several serious offenses including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and reckless driving following the crash that occurred on Saturday on Ocean Parkway near Quentin Road in the Gravesend neighborhood.

Date and Location of the Incident

The collision transpired around 1:04 p.m. on Saturday. Police reports indicate that the accident began when a rideshare vehicle carrying four passengers, including a mother and her three children, was struck by another driver at the intersection. Subsequently, this driver collided with a mother and her children who were walking across the street.

Details of the Crash

Reportedly, a silver 2023 Toyota Camry with TLC plates was turning onto Ocean Parkway when it was hit by a blue Audi A3 driving northbound. The impact caused the Camry to be shoved aside, and the Audi continued its trajectory, striking the mother and her children before overturning.

Casualties and Injuries

Tragically, the mother and two of her children were declared dead at the scene. The third child was rushed to the hospital, where they were reported to be in critical condition and “fighting for his life.” Additionally, the 62-year-old Camry driver was hospitalized but is currently in stable condition, while the four passengers from the Camry sustained only minor injuries.

Driver’s Background and Legal Status

Yarimi, who was also taken to the hospital in stable condition, has been found to have been driving with a suspended license, although the exact reasons for this suspension are still under investigation. The vehicle she was driving was noted to have a vanity license plate reading ‘WIGM8KER,’ indicating her occupation as a wigmaker, as reported by the New York Post.
