Over 1 million people filled the streets of Manhattan today for what is being called the world’s largest climate march. Protesters demanded urgent action from world leaders ahead of the upcoming United Nations Climate Summit, set to be hosted in New York this September.
The march included activists, students, and celebrities, with Greta Thunberg and local leaders addressing the crowd at a rally in Central Park. “The time for empty promises is over,” Thunberg said. “We need bold action now.”
Mayor Eric Adams joined the march, pledging to accelerate the city’s transition to renewable energy. Organizers hailed the event as a turning point in global climate advocacy.
