The New York Philharmonic delighted music lovers tonight with the opening performance of its summer waterfront concert series at Battery Park. The free event, part of the city’s initiative to make the arts more accessible, featured classical favorites and a stirring rendition of “Rhapsody in Blue.”
“This is our gift to the people of New York,” said conductor Gustavo Dudamel. The series will continue throughout July, with performances in Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
