by NY Review Contributor

On June 22, 2025, Nicole Scherzinger delivered a surprise performance at the 34th annual Broadway Bares fundraiser, held at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The Tony Award-winning actress and singer took the stage to perform the Pussycat Dolls’ 2006 hit “Buttons,” joined by her castmates from the Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard. The event, themed “Come Out, Come Out,” featured over 200 dancers and raised more than $2.4 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Dressed in a sheer black catsuit adorned with sparkling fringe, Scherzinger, 46, captivated the audience with her rendition of “Buttons,” incorporating the original choreography from the Pussycat Dolls era. She added a personal touch by modifying the lyrics to celebrate her recent Tony Award win, singing, “Baby can’t you see? / How this Tony is spinning on me / and the heat coming from this B / I’m about to blow … .” The performance concluded with Scherzinger and her fellow dancers striking a pose and exclaiming, “Happy Pride, baby,” in celebration of Pride Month.
