On October 14, 2024, New York City unveiled a public art installation in Bryant Park to honor the dedication and sacrifice of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Titled Resilience in Service, the installation features a series of large-scale sculptures and digital displays inspired by stories of frontline workers.
“This installation is a tribute to the bravery and humanity of those who put their lives on the line to care for others,” said Mayor Eric Adams at the unveiling ceremony. Created by NYC-based artist Maya Hines, the centerpiece is a towering sculpture shaped like a stethoscope that morphs into an abstract heart, symbolizing compassion and resilience.
Visitors can interact with the installation through QR codes that link to video interviews with healthcare workers sharing their experiences. The display also includes a “Wall of Gratitude,” where visitors can leave messages of appreciation.
Healthcare professionals in attendance expressed gratitude for the recognition, with many moved by the heartfelt stories depicted in the art. The installation will remain on display through the end of November, offering New Yorkers a chance to reflect on the critical role of healthcare workers in society.
