New York City’s skyline lit up tonight as the city launched its annual summer fireworks series, a celebration that drew thousands to waterfront parks in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. The event, featuring choreographed pyrotechnics and live music, marked the start of a month-long series of displays leading up to Independence Day.
“This is what summer in New York is all about,” said Mayor Eric Adams, who attended the festivities at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The series is expected to boost tourism and local business, with additional shows planned at Coney Island and Staten Island.
