New Yorkers can now enjoy more car-free streets as the city’s popular Summer Streets program returns with its longest route yet. This year’s initiative opens 10 miles of streets across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn to pedestrians, cyclists, and outdoor activities every Saturday in July and August.
“Summer Streets transforms our city into a playground,” said Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. Activities include fitness classes, live music, and art installations. The expansion aims to bring the program’s benefits to more neighborhoods.
