NYC’s Broadway Bounces Back as Strike Ends

Broadway roared back to life today as the weeks-long strike by actors and stagehands officially ended. The resolution came after an overnight agreement between the Broadway Performers Guild, Local 1 of IATSE, and producers, securing higher wages, better benefits, and protections against the use of AI in productions.

“This is a victory for everyone who makes Broadway magic happen,” said union representative Lisa Harrington. Productions resumed immediately, with shows like Hamilton and Moulin Rouge! playing to sold-out crowds.
The economic impact of the strike was significant, but producers and union leaders expressed optimism about the industry’s recovery.
