Shedeur sanders prank call scandal takes an unexpected turn

Apology Issued After Prank Call to Shedeur Sanders During NFL Draft

During the recent NFL Draft, Jax Ulbrich, the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, admitted to making a prank call to quarterback Shedeur Sanders. This incident occurred as Sanders saw his draft stock slide from a first-round pick to the fifth round.

Details of the Incident

In a public statement on Instagram, Jax expressed remorse, stating, “On Friday night, I made a tremendous mistake. Shedeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.” He acknowledged he detracted from what should have been a momentous occasion for Sanders.

Jax further remarked, “I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake.” He thanked Sanders for accepting his phone call, hoping for forgiveness.

League’s Response

The NFL confirmed to Fox News that an investigation into the prank call was underway. The Falcons released a statement clarifying that Jax had inadvertently accessed Sanders’ contact number from an iPad left accessible at his family’s home. They emphasized that Jeff Ulbrich was unaware of this breach of information until after it occurred.

The Falcons said, “We do not condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family.” They indicated ongoing communication with the Sanders family to formally apologize and noted their commitment to cooperation with the NFL’s investigation.

Shedeur Sanders’ Reaction

Despite the prank, which was one of at least two that Sanders received during the draft, he maintained a composed outlook. “It didn’t really have an impact on me,” he remarked to Cleveland media. “I don’t feed into negativity.” Describing the prank as childish, he acknowledged that everyone has moments of immaturity.

Coaching Perspective

Sanders’ new head coach, Kevin Stefanski, commented on the prank, stating that “people are morons,” highlighting the prevalent nature of such childish behavior in sports.
