Tragic Incident at Texas McDonald’s Leaves Grandfather Dead
A grandfather lost his life in a senseless shooting while buying food for his family at a McDonald’s in Katy, Texas.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 16, during a disturbance between two groups inside the popular fast-food chain. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales reported that gunfire erupted in a crowded restaurant, filled with families and young children.
Among the two individuals struck by bullets was Jorge Arbaiza, a 61-year-old innocent bystander. Arbaiza was purchasing Happy Meals for his grandchildren at the time and was subsequently rushed to the hospital via Life Flight, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
His family was anxiously waiting outside in their vehicle when the tragic event unfolded.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
In connection with the shooting, a 24-year-old suspect has been arrested and faces charges of murder. The underlying causes of the altercation that led to the firearm violence remain undetermined.
Significantly, Sheriff Gonzales revealed that the suspect’s weapon had been modified with a “glock switch,” allowing it to function as an automatic firearm rather than a semi-automatic standard.
Community Reaction
The tragic loss of Jorge Arbaiza has resonated deeply within the community. In his final moments, he was observed making the sign of the cross and praying, a gesture that has profoundly affected the responding law enforcement officers. “May he Rest in Peace,” stated Sheriff Gonzales in a recent update.
