Tragic Shooting in Newark: Officer Fatality and Another in Critical Condition
Newark, NJ – A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Friday night when a police officer was fatally shot, while another suffered severe injuries during a shooting in Newark.
Details of the Incident
The shooting occurred around Carteret Street and Broadway, where eyewitnesses reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots. Upon arrival, police found two officers in distress; one had sustained a fatal wound, while the other was shot in the leg. Both were transported to University Hospital promptly.
Tragically, one of the officers did not survive the incident and was declared dead at the hospital. The second officer remains in critical condition as medical teams work diligently to stabilize their situation.
