NBA YoungBoy Receives Presidential Pardon from Donald Trump
Rapper Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, widely recognized as NBA YoungBoy, publicly announced on Instagram that he has been granted a pardon by President Donald Trump.
Appreciation for the Pardon
In his statement, Gaulden expressed gratitude towards Trump, stating, “I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building — as a man, as a father, and as an artist. This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I’ve worked hard for, and I am fully prepared to step into this.”
He also extended thanks to Alice Marie Johnson, known as Trump’s “Pardon Czar,” and his attorney, Brittany K. Barnett.
Background of the Case
In 2024, a federal judge in Utah sentenced NBA YoungBoy to nearly two years in prison due to gun-related charges. The rapper admitted to possessing firearms despite previous felony convictions.
While filming a music video in Baton Rouge, he was found with a Glock 21 .45-caliber pistol and a Masterpiece Arms MPA30T 9mm handgun. Additionally, a Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic pistol was located at his home in Huntsville, Utah. He agreed to relinquish the firearms.
Previously, Gaulden was convicted in Louisiana for aggravated assault with a firearm. His home in Utah was searched following a complaint alleging he posed as a doctor to obtain prescription painkillers.
Future Endeavors
Following his pardon, NBA YoungBoy is set to embark on “The MASA tour,” which will launch in Dallas this September.
Presidential Pardons on the Same Day
On the same day, President Trump also granted pardons to reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, who have been serving time for federal convictions including bank fraud and tax evasion. This decision allows the couple, famous for the show “Chrisley Knows Best,” to be released from prison.
- Todd Chrisley, 57, was held in a minimum security facility in Pensacola, Florida.
- Julie Chrisley, 52, was incarcerated in Lexington, Kentucky.
