Fifth Avenue was filled with music, dancing, and vibrant displays of Puerto Rican pride today as thousands gathered for the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade. This year’s theme, “Resilience and Unity,” highlighted the island’s recovery from recent hurricanes and the contributions of the Puerto Rican community to New York City.
“We’re celebrating our heritage and our strength,” said Grand Marshal Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, as she waved to cheering crowds. The parade featured over 100 floats, marching bands, and cultural groups, creating a festive atmosphere in the heart of Manhattan.
