A Bold AI Experiment: From Chalkboards to Chatbot.
At Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato’ Ahmad Razali (SMKDAR) in Ampang, classrooms resembled many others across the developing world—dedicated teachers, eager students, and the challenge of finding more efficient ways to connect.
For Razman Salleh, a Malaysian AI strategist, the question was simple but urgent: What if AI could be the bridge—an extra set of hands for teachers, and a patient tutor for students who were falling behind?
The idea was not about flashy technology. It was about dignity. Teachers needed space to teach, not drown in administration. Students deserved an easier, more accessible way to learn, where no one was left behind.
So, in early 2024, armed with nothing more than a laptop and conviction, Razman began building.
The Pilot That Changed Everything
Behind every breakthrough are people with courage. At SMKDAR, that courage came from Principal Rose Aliza Sutrisno and Senior Teacher Mazian Osman, who—together with the District Education Office (PPD)—opened the doors for Malaysia’s first AI Chatbot Classroom Pilot.
With twelve teachers, twelve students, and a single idea born out of struggle and hope, they proved that even a modest classroom can give rise to a revolution in learning.
Under the guidance of Razman, alongside the dedicated SMKDAR teaching team, the students were not passive subjects of an experiment—they were pioneers. Together, they participated in live demonstrations, learned how to interact with the AI chatbot, and practiced the art of asking questions without fear of judgment.
In these sessions, students tested the AI across science problems, essay writing, and even step-by-step solutions for Additional Mathematics. Teachers, in turn, explored how the chatbot could reduce their marking load, provide instant feedback, and free them to focus on mentoring.
What began as simple trials soon grew into moments of discovery—students laughing as the chatbot clarified a confusing formula, or teachers realizing they had gained back precious hours to guide their classes more meaningfully.
It was in these small but powerful encounters, inside an ordinary public school in Ampang, that the seeds of Malaysia’s AI classroom revolution were first sown.
The Results Were Transformative
- 40% of students said they understood difficult topics more clearly.
- 30% cut their homework and revision time dramatically.
- Over 50% asked for permanent AI access.
Most striking was the pattern: students leaned heavily on the AI in Science, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, and Malay Language—core subjects where gaps can define a student’s future.
For teachers, it was like having a silent co-pilot. For students, it was a friend who never judged, never tired, and always answered.
“Some students don’t need more notes,” Razman reflects. “They need someone who will listen to their questions—anytime, without making them feel small.”
From a Pilot to a Platform: AI Classroom World
From those months of experiments emerged something larger: AI Classroom World.
Unlike many EdTech solutions built in corporate labs, this platform was forged in the noise of real classrooms—through trial, error, and lived experience.
Now, it offers a fully unified ecosystem for schools:

“AI Classroom World is not about replacing teachers,” says Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar, who has guided the project from the start. “It is about empowering them to be what they truly are—mentors, guides, and inspirers of young minds.”
Malaysia’s Gift to the Global Stage
The story of AI Classroom World has now moved far beyond Ampang. As news spreads, interest is growing across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has underscored the vision clearly:
“The success of AI is not in how advanced its code is, but in how much it uplifts human lives—creating opportunity, overcoming challenges, and ensuring no one is left behind.”
With this mandate, AI Classroom World is preparing to scale:
- 300,000–400,000 students to gain adaptive, personalised learning.
- 20,000+ educators to be supported with burnout-reducing AI tools.
- 10,000 classrooms to be transformed into fully digital, resilient spaces.
And unlike many education startups targeting elite schools, this project insists on starting where it matters most: in public schools, in underfunded communities, and in classrooms where students often feel forgotten.
Restoring Dignity, One Classroom at a Time
From Q4 2025, partnerships will open with governments, humanitarian networks, and global education alliances—including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Education Cannot Wait.
The mission is simple, but profound: restore dignity to classrooms, empower teachers, and leave no child behind.
“When the world seems to have failed our children,” Razman says quietly, “we owe them a second chance. And this time, it must be built with clarity, courage, and compassion.”
