San Diego Comic-Con 2024 concluded with a series of groundbreaking announcements across film and television, captivating fans and setting the stage for the next wave of entertainment. From surprise casting reveals to exclusive trailers, the event highlighted the dynamic evolution of beloved franchises and introduced fresh narratives poised to redefine genre storytelling.

In a stunning revelation, Robert Downey Jr. made a dramatic entrance at Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel, donning full Doctor Doom attire. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Downey Jr. will portray the iconic villain Victor Von Doom in the upcoming films “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” both directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. This marks Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a new role, following his tenure as Tony Stark/Iron Man. “Avengers: Doomsday” is slated for release on May 1, 2026, followed by “Avengers: Secret Wars” on May 7, 2027 .

Marvel Studios unveiled the cast and details for the highly anticipated “Fantastic Four” reboot, titled “Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Set in a retro-futuristic 1960s alternate universe, the film stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. The narrative centers on the team’s battle against Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson, with Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer. The film is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025 .

AMC premiered the teaser trailer for Season 2 of “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” featuring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprising their roles as Maggie and Negan. The new season delves deeper into the complexities of their relationship amid the challenges of a post-apocalyptic Manhattan.
