Global Celebrities Illuminate Early July Events with Glamour and Artistry

by NY Review Contributor

The first week of July 2025 witnessed a dazzling array of celebrity appearances across major global events, blending fashion, music, and cultural celebrations. From the historic courts of Wimbledon to the vibrant stages of the Roskilde Festival, stars showcased their presence, adding a touch of glamour to each occasion.

Actress Lily Collins graced the prestigious Wimbledon tournament in London, exuding summer sophistication in a breezy, chic dress. Accompanied by her husband, director Charlie McDowell, Collins shared moments from the event on social media, capturing the essence of British summer tradition.

In Paris, filmmaker Sofia Coppola directed the opulent Le Bal d’Été at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, celebrating the centennial of the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts. The event, attended by luminaries like Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Penélope Cruz, featured romantic floral decor and performances by soprano Pretty Yende and the band Phoenix. The gala successfully raised approximately $2 million to support the upcoming exhibit “1925-2025: One Hundred Years of Art Deco.”

Rapper Cardi B made a bold impression at Schiaparelli’s Fall 2025 Haute Couture show during Paris Fashion Week. Donning a dramatic fringed gown and holding a live crow, she embodied the surrealistic spirit of the brand. The collection, inspired by founder Elsa Schiaparelli’s 1940 escape from Nazi-occupied Paris, showcased a shift towards fluid designs, moving away from extreme corsetry.

The Schiaparelli show also featured prominent figures like Dua Lipa, who wore a white feather-inspired ensemble, and Karol G, stunning in a black floral mermaid gown. Despite a summer storm, Karol G arrived with assistance, adding to the event’s dramatic flair. Actress Hunter Schafer was also spotted among the attendees, highlighting the intersection of music, fashion, and film.

Actors Tom Holland and Keanu Reeves were among the celebrities present at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The race was marked by Lando Norris’s victory amid challenging weather conditions, adding excitement to the event.

The Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans featured performances by artists like Keke Palmer and Kandi Burruss. Burruss addressed the audience at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, while Palmer captivated attendees with her fashion choices. The festival, marking its 31st year, celebrated Black culture through music, empowerment sessions, and community engagement.

In Denmark, the Roskilde Festival hosted performances by Olivia Rodrigo and Lana Del Rey. Rodrigo’s appearance marked her only Scandinavian show of the year, following her successful 2024 world tour. The festival, known for its diverse lineup, continued to be a significant event in the European music scene.

These events underscore the global influence of celebrities in shaping cultural narratives, blending artistry with public engagement across continents.
