Big Discounts at Joann Stores Before Closing Sales

Closure Announced for Joann Craft Stores Amid Major Discounts
Joann, the well-known crafts retailer, is undergoing a substantial transition. The company has recently revealed that it will be closing all U.S. stores by the end of the month, prompting a “going out of business” sale offering discounts between 50% to 80% off select items.
Discount Details
According to information on their official website, various products are significantly discounted, although some exclusions may apply depending on the location:
- Thread and Yarn: 50% off
- Home Decor Fabrics and Trims: 50%-80% off
Purchase Restrictions
Customers are required to visit physical locations to make purchases, as online sales were halted early in March.
Background on Store Closures
The announcement comes roughly seven weeks after Joann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time, having previously undergone a similar process last year. This bankruptcy led to a restructuring that allowed GA Group and its prepetition term loan agent to acquire substantially all of Joann’s assets in February.
Impact on Locations
At the time of bankruptcy, Joann operated around 800 stores nationwide, with a significant number shutting down since the filing. Reports suggest that this situation has already led to the closure of a couple hundred stores, as confirmed by USA Today.
End of an Era
The upcoming closures will signify the end of nearly 80 years for the iconic retailer, which was established in 1943. As Joann finalizes its operations, the remaining stores will continue holding sales until the end of May or until supplies run out.
