The Who Announces Final North American Tour for 2025

The legendary rock band The Who is embarking on what they are calling their last tour across North America this summer. The tour, titled The Song Is Over North America Farewell Tour, is set to kick off on August 16 in Florida, culminating on September 28 in Las Vegas. Major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Toronto will be included in their itinerary.

The Reason Behind Their Farewell

Members Roger Daltrey, 81, and Pete Townshend, 79, both original members of the band, spoke candidly during the announcement. Daltrey reminisced about their journey since 1967 when they first achieved success in the U.S., stating, Every musician’s dream in the early ’60s was to make it big in the U.S. chartsand our lives were changed forever.

Townshend added, Well, all good things must come to an end. It is a poignant time. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities to perform for audiences in North America and acknowledged their late bandmates, saying, Roger and I still carry the banner for the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle.

Timeline of Events

The tour will commence in Florida on August 16 and conclude with a performance in Las Vegas on September 28. Presale tickets will become available on May 13, with general sales starting on May 16.

Setlist Expectations

Titled after their 1971 track The Song Is Over, the upcoming tour will feature a selection of hits from The Whos extensive six-decade career. Fans can anticipate live renditions of classic tracks such as My Generation, Baba O’Reilly, and Wont Get Fooled Again. The iconic albums Tommy and Quadrophenia, which have both been adapted into films, will likely be highlighted throughout the performances.

Future Plans: UK Tour Speculation

As it stands, there are currently no plans for a farewell tour in the UK. Daltrey mentioned, I don’t want to say that there won’t be [a U.K. farewell tour], but equally I’m not confident in saying there will be. Health considerations have complicated future touring plans, as Daltrey has been advised to take breaks between performances for vocal health.
