The 1995 cult classic Clueless made a triumphant return to theaters across the United States on June 29 and 30, 2025, marking its 30th anniversary. The special event featured a remastered version of the film and exclusive commentary by film historian Leonard Maltin, delighting both longtime fans and new audiences.

As part of Fathom Events 2025 Big Screen Classics series, Clueless was showcased in over 1,000 theaters nationwide, including major chains like AMC, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark. Each screening included a special introduction by Leonard Maltin, who provided insights into the films production, its cultural impact, and its enduring appeal.

Directed by Amy Heckerling, Clueless is a modern adaptation of Jane Austens 1815 novel Emma, set in a 1990s Beverly Hills high school. The film stars Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz, a wealthy and fashion-forward teenager who takes it upon herself to improve the lives of those around her. With her best friend Dionne (Stacey Dash) and new protégé Tai (Brittany Murphy), Cher navigates the ups and downs of adolescence, all while trying to figure out her own feelings for the charming Josh (Paul Rudd).

The 30th-anniversary celebration of Clueless extended beyond the U.S. In the United Kingdom, the film was re-released in 4K resolution starting June 27, allowing fans to experience the movie with enhanced picture quality. Additionally, Londons West End hosted Clueless Week from June 21 to 28, featuring a series of events including performances of Clueless: The Musical, a concert by KT Tunstall, and themed panels and screenings.

In Beverly Hills, the city that serves as the films iconic backdrop, Mayor Sharona R. Nazarian officially declared July 19 as Clueless Day. The celebration included a street festival with themed photo opportunities, a costume contest, food trucks, local vendors, and an outdoor screening of the film. Local businesses also participated by offering Clueless-themed experiences throughout July.

To commemorate the anniversary, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) re-released the films platinum-selling soundtrack on both standard weight and limited-edition pink vinyl. The soundtrack features tracks from artists like The Muffs, Radiohead, Counting Crows, and the Beastie Boys, capturing the eclectic musical landscape of the 1990s.

Clueless has maintained its status as a cultural touchstone over the past three decades, influencing fashion, language, and the teen comedy genre. Its return to theaters not only offered a nostalgic experience for original fans but also introduced the film to a new generation, highlighting its timeless themes and enduring charm.
