New York City marked Halloween on October 31, 2024, with the 50th Annual Village Halloween Parade, a dazzling spectacle of costumes, creativity, and community spirit. The parade, which runs along Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, drew over 2 million spectators and participants, making it one of the largest Halloween celebrations in the world.

“This parade is a celebration of the imagination, where everyone can be whoever—or whatever—they want to be for a night,” said Jeanne Fleming, the parade’s artistic director. This year’s theme, Magic in the Streets, encouraged participants to unleash their inner wizards, witches, and mythical creatures. Floats adorned with glowing jack-o’-lanterns and costumed performers dazzled crowds with choreographed dance routines.

The event also featured live music from over 50 bands, including brass ensembles, drumlines, and DJs spinning Halloween-themed tracks. Families and groups donned elaborate costumes, from pop culture icons to traditional Halloween ghouls, turning the streets into a living, breathing art gallery.

As always, the parade fostered an atmosphere of inclusion and creativity, with attendees from all walks of life coming together to enjoy the magic of Halloween in NYC. The festivities continued late into the night, with nearby bars, clubs, and restaurants hosting themed parties to keep the Halloween spirit alive.
