Taylor Swift Ignites Global Stage with Tokyo Kickoff of 2024 Eras Tour

TOKYO — Taylor Swift launched the 2024 international leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour with four electrifying performances at Tokyo Dome from February 7 to 10, marking her first concerts in Japan since 2018. The sold-out shows captivated over 200,000 fans, underscoring Swifts enduring global appeal and setting the tone for a year of worldwide performances.

The Tokyo concerts featured a meticulously curated setlist traversing Swifts expansive discography, from her country origins to her latest pop anthems. Each segment was distinguished by elaborate stage designs and costume changes that visually represented the distinct eras of her musical journey. Notably, Swift included two surprise acoustic songs each night, delighting fans with rare live renditions of tracks like Eyes Open and Electric Touch on February 8 .

Beyond the music, Swift made headlines by addressing the audience in Japanese, expressing gratitude and forging a deeper connection with her fans in Japan . The performances were not without incident; during the February 9 show, Swift experienced a near fall from the Folklore cabin set piece but recovered gracefully, later joking with the audience about the mishap .

The Tokyo leg also coincided with significant milestones in Swifts career. At the 2024 Grammy Awards, held just days before her Tokyo shows, Swift announced her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, set for release on April 19. She revealed to the Tokyo audience that she had initially planned to announce the album during her first Tokyo concert if she hadnt won a Grammy .

Following the Tokyo performances, Swift is scheduled to continue her tour in Melbourne, Australia, on February 16, before heading to other international destinations including Singapore, Europe, and Canada. The Eras Tour has already made history with unprecedented ticket sales and attendance records, and its global expansion is anticipated to further solidify Swifts status as a cultural and musical powerhouse.
